A. HEALTH ENHANCEMENT AND LONGEVITY PROGRAM (HELP).
1 Commemoration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Trafficking on June 26,
2009: Marked by visitation and Presentation of Gifts to the Federal Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba
Lagos to appreciate the contributions of the establishment for caring for mentally ill patients due to drug
addiction. Food items, toiletries, drugs and cash donations were given to the organization by WODIA.
Organizations that supported WODIA are: Yaba Local Council Development Area, Lagos, Bel-Impex
Limited (Member of Boulos Group of Companies), P.Z. Industries, and GlaxoSmithKline PLC.

2. Commemoration of the International Day of Families on May 15, 2009.
Marked in collaboration with the Igbogbo Baiyeku Local Council Development Area, Lagos, (LCDA) with a
Seminar on Prevention of Diseases That Cause Sudden Death among Children and Adults.
The Medical Director of Ikorodu General Hospital, Dr. Mobolaji Olukoya who delivered lectures on the
subject, ably represented the Lagos State Commissioner for Health. Other
resource persons were Dr. Sodipo (Representing Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH), Dr.
Paul Maijeh (representing Nigeria Medical Association) and others. Attendance was over 250 people from
Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA.

3. Commemoration of the World Health Day on April 8, 2009.
Marked with a Seminar on the Causes and Treatment of Arthritis and other Bone Diseases held in
collaboration with the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos (NOHIL). Program was held at NOHIL
with the Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Wahab Yinusa in attendance.
Resource Persons were consultants from NOHIL. Attendance comprising of corporate audience and
representatives from all Local Government Areas of Lagos State was over 500 people.

4. Commemoration of the International Day For The Elimination of Violence Against Women on
November 25, 2008.
Marked with a seminar on Health Information To Prolong Life at Hall 36, Lagos University Teaching
Hospital (LUTH) in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Health, World Health Organization (WHO),
LUTH, United Nations Information Center (UNIC) and Lagos State Ministry of Justice. Attendance
numbered over 200 people.

5. A Seminar on Health Information To Promote Long Life held on July 29, 2008
held in collaboration with the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). In attendance was the
Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, Dr. Femi Olugbile.
Attendees including the representatives of the Lagos State Deputy Governor, the State commissioners for
Environment, Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and others numbered over 600 people.
6. HIV/AIDS, Maternal Health and Disease Prevention- Since 2005,
WODIA has involved in Enhancing Environmental Friendliness, Care for the Aged, Counseling Girls Against
Prostitution and Prevention of Mother-to-Child HIV/AIDS Transmission. WODIA mobilizes support for
children orphaned by HIV/AIDS, implements activities that reduce stigmatization of People Living With
HIV/AIDS (PLWA), Drug Addiction, Malaria and Maternal Mortality.
From Health Neglect TO Health Care!
WODIA implemented two phases of Micro-credit sustainability and Poverty Reduction project from
December 11, 2007 to March 25, 2008.
Theme of project was Delivering the Grassroots from Financial Powerlessness and Topic of Seminars
was How and Where to Obtain Small Loans and Medium Scale Loans for Personal and Business
Program was implemented in participation with Gapbridge Microfinance Bank Limited, Citiserve Microfinance
Bank Limited, Lagos State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Local Government Areas, Association of
Market Men and Women (Lagos State), Bureau of Transportation (Ogun State) and others.
Seminars were held on same Theme and Topic in five different locations in Lagos State namely:
(a)Multipurpose Hall of LTV 8, Ikeja, Lagos.
(b)Onigbongbo Local Government Secretariat, Ikeja, Lagos.
(c)Sandgrouse Market (Lagos Island), Suenu Palace, (Adeniji Adele), Lagos.
(d) Alade Market, Ikeja, Lagos.
As at date more than 900 traders have benefited from small-scale loans as a result of this WODIA’s
Poverty is an Enemy of Mankind ---Let’s Conquer it!
C. SELF EMPLOYMENT FOR LEADERSHIP IN FUTURE (SELF)
The Self Employment for Leadership in Future (SELF) is a skill acquisition program for unemployed
people. It is an initiative that enhances self-employment for future leadership. Through sponsorships
from philanthropists and Agbado Oke-odo Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, WODIA has
been involved in the vocational training of women and youths in various trades to empower them for self-
